The unbeaten 210-run partnership between Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul in the successful 10-wicket win for Lucknow Super Giants against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 is the highest partnership for the first wicket in the IPL. It is also the third-highest partnership by runs in the tournament’s history.

The pair of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan equalled the record in 2024. The Gujarat Titans’ opening pair put up 210 runs together against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

David Warner has been involved in three 150-plus run opening partnerships. Two of them came with Jonny Bairstow (185 in 2019 and 160 in 2020) and one with Wriddhiman Saha (151* in 2020) while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Team-wise, there are four 150+ partnership entries from SRH, followed by three each from CSK and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
