Most Wickets in the Decade – ODI, Tests & T20Is (2010 – 2019)

In Overall stats, Ravichandran Ashwin from India leads the wickets chart in all 3 formats combined in this decade. He has got 564 wickets in total in the 2010s.

Stats Highlights

  • Lasith Malinga, who is the leading wicket taker of this decade, is also happens to be the bowler with most overs bowled (1303.4) and most maidens bowled (69) in ODIs. 

  • Still, Bhuvneswar Kumar of India impresses with 68 maidens in the 908.3 overs he bowled this decade, which is 404 overs less than what Malinga bowled.
  • Among the bowlers who have taken 100 ODI wickets in this decade, Mitchell Starc (Australia) has the best bowling average of 20.99 with 172 wickets, and Mohamad Hafeez (Pakistan) has the best economy rate of 4.11 while striking 101 times in this decade.
  • Starc also tops with the best strike rate in this decade of 25.00.
  • Shahid Afridi’s 7/12 against West Indies in Providence ground in 2013, is the best ODI bowling performance of this decade.

  • Malinga also has the most 5-fors in the time period between 2010 & 2019 in ODIs – 8, followed by Starc, Afridi and Boult ending the decade with 7, 6 & 5 5-fors in the 2010s.

  • James Anderson, who leads the Test wickets in this decade, also bowled the most maiden overs in this period. Anderson is also the only bowler with 1000+ maiden overs in 2010s.

  • Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon bowled the maximum overs in this decade – 4047.1
  • The best Test bowling performance of 2010s goes to Rangana Herath, Sri Lankan left handed off-spinner, who had a bowling figure of 9/127 against Pakistan in 2014 in Colombo.
  • Keshav Maharaj came so close to beat Herath’s figure against Sri Lanka itself in the same ground in 2018, when he ended the innings with a figure of 9/129.
