Top 10: Most Wickets in WPL History

Although T20 and cricket, in general, are considered batter’s game, the women’s game has largely been a level playing field. Though we have seen big scores by batters, the bowlers too have a say, and hence the nature of women’s T20 is always competitive.

The same applies to women’s cricket’s newest T20 league, the WPL, which had its fair share of excitement in its first season, and it is bound to happen with the best of women’s cricketers participating.

Here we will see which of the bowlers shined through the course of this young league in the top 10 wicket-takers list.

15: Amelia Kerr took 15 wickets at 14.06 in the inaugural edition of the WPL from 10 games and played a key role in her side, MI, clinching the title.

16: Hayley Matthews and Sophie Ecclestone’s tally of wickets in the 2023 season of the WPL, and they are the t highest wicket-takers in that edition.

13.93 is the bowling average of Hayley Matthews in the WPL, and this is the least for any bowler with over 10 wickets. She was also the Player of the Tournament in the first season.

5.95 is the economy rate of DC’s Marizanne Kapp, the least for any bowler with 10 or more wickets.

This list is completely dominated by the defending champions, the Mumbai Indians, as they have 5 bowlers in the top 5, with four of them taking at least 15 wickets in the WPL.
